Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali has ordered state secretary Khusrin Munawi to review the termination of 30 contract staff from a PKNS subsidiary.

Azmin was himself ousted from the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) last year, during the Abdul Khalid Ibrahim administration.

Azmin said that he will not rest until justice is served to the sacked employees of PKNS Holdings Sdn Bhd (PHSB).

"I am among the victims. Hence, it is not true that I am letting the matter slide.

"I have followed the issue closely and have already asked the state secretary to check if the termination was done according to the laws.

"If not, justice must be done to the officers involved,” Azmin told reporters today.

Thirty contract staff were sacked from PHSB last February after receiving complaints that the staff were paid excessively and hired without proper interviews.

Azmin's contract as PKNS director was not renewed last year, in what observers saw as a political purge by the then-state administration.

Meanwhile, on a separate matter, Azmin denied former Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) chief executive officer Faekah Husin’s claim that the audit report on the RM2.6 million worth of severance payments to Khalid’s former aides was flawed and had malicious intent.

Instead, Azmin said the report was made by an independent audit department and it was found that there was indeed abuse of power (in the disbursement of the severance payment).

“They (the former aides) have two weeks to respond. If they fail to do so, necessary action will be taken against them,” he said.

Azmin had urged the eight former staff of Khalid to return the money within 14 days from the date of the letter of demand issued to them as the payment was made without following procedures and regulations.

On another issue, Azmin said the state government will collaborate with the federal government to help flood victims in Pahang.

The matter was decided in the executive council meeting this morning after the menteri besar received the invitation from a representative from the federal government.

“Putrajaya invited the Selangor state government to join the humanitarian mission in Pahang and we have decided to accept the invitation,” he said.
