PAS Youth deputy chief Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi believes that the non-Muslims, regardless of where they are residing, agree that the implementation of hudud law is solely for the Muslim community.

Therefore, Khalil said, DAP's Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo and his party do not represent the views of all non-Muslims.

Khalil was responding to the statement by Gobind that the Islamic party PAS would be seen as opting out of Pakatan Rakyat if the Kelantan government tables a Bill to amend the hudud enactment at the state legislative assembly sitting on March 18.

“Hudud is part of PAS’ agenda and it cannot be separated”, Khalil said.

He pointed out that DAP’s stand does not represent the non-Muslim community, and that not all non-Muslims disagree to the hudud implementation.

Gobind ( right ) had warned the PAS-led Kelantan government on tabling the hudud enactment amendment Bill in the coming state assembly sitting as it would go against Pakatan’s common policy framework.

The tabling of the Bill would also breach an agreement among PAS, DAP and PKR leaders at the leadership council meet earlier this month that it should be discussed further before a decision is made, Gobind said.

The Pakatan leadership council met after months of being cold shouldered, but deferred the decision on hudud until after PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim’s Sodomy II verdict on Feb 10.  

However, soon after the meeting, the Kelantan government announced - to the surprise of DAP leaders - that it would table the hudud amendment Bill in the state assembly.
