PetroSaudi hangs 1MDB with police report

YOURSAY ‘It can’t say the emails were false and yet claim its account was hacked.’

Whistleblower: Lots more on 1MDB and Jho Low

Commentable: I love the part where Sarawak Report journalist Clare Rewcastle-Brown said: "They can't have it both ways, can they?"

For the benefit of the BN cybertroopers who do not understand English, it means PetroSaudi has the noose already on the necks of whole gang because PetroSaudi cannot claim the incriminating emails to be false on the one hand, but proceed to lodge a police report with the British Scotland Yard claiming their email account was hacked.

The police report is deemed an admission that the emails were authentic and goes to show there is no such thing as the perfect crime. Hopefully we will see that crime does not pay.

The onus is on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) that it still has in its possession all those money it claims it has, including the purported US$488 million (RM1.77 billion) profit from the deal.

1MDB should have no problem repatriating the money into a US dollar account anywhere in Malaysia but if there is a problem, Bank Negara Malaysia will undoubtedly give a helping hand.

Hang Babeuf: As in all such cases, it is not the crime itself but the attempted denial and desperate cover-up that in the end give the game away - and reveal the putrid truth at the basis of it all.

We are slowly getting there. And it does not look pretty or smell good. It stinks.

CQ Muar: From this account and all other relevant exposes, 1MDB’s joint venture with PetroSaudi must be pursued to the hilt to get to the bottom of it all.

As for all those scoundrels, especially the main players, they must not be allowed to escape the dragnet.

This clearly shows, beyond a shadow of doubt, the kind of leaders and government we have in this country of high-profile corruption.

What further doubt do we need to justify and ensure the necessity for change come the next GE? Essentially, MCA, Gerakan and MIC must not remain mute over this massive fiasco.

Where Got Problem: I cannot believe money man Jho Low can do all this by himself. No reward for guessing who is behind him.

Ttc: The RM42 billion which 1MDB owes can buy out North-South Highway. Malaysian will be so pleased if the money was used for this. But instead, we have this.

Lamps: We all owe Sarawak Report a big thank you. Thanks for the expose on the biggest scam in the history of Malaysia.

Shawkey Ghafur: If this article is true, why spread the information on the Internet? Sarawak Report should use the right channels to lodge a report against 1MDB or maybe Jho Low.

It is clear that this article by Sarawak Report is an attempt to tarnish 1MDB’s and the country’s image.

And most probable of all, Sarawak Report was instructed by someone to spread such stories in order to create a negative impression on 1MDB.

Apaches: What a wonderful movie script by Pakatan Rakyat. When are they going to release the movie?

If they have evidence regarding 1MDB misusing funds, they should go to the proper authorities to lodge a report or take legal action against 1MDB. But they did not do that.

Headhunter: Irrefutable documentary proof, how to deny? And Claire Rewcastle-Brown said she has thousands (of documents). She will definitely release them piecemeal and each time she does that, someone is going to sweat.

Sarawak governor Abdul Taib Mahmud tried to discredit her and threatened to sue but in the end, he took the easy out by resigning as chief minister.

Many Sarawakians consider Rewcastle-Brown a loyal daughter of the state (after all, she grew up in Sarawak).

AntaraBangsa: On the one hand, I'm glad the Umno supporters are commenting on this story.

But I must say, I have not read a single comment here in Malaysiakini that makes a cogent argument against the points raised by Rewcastle-Brown and the Sarawak Report .

If there is any consistency in this, it is the quality that permeates all levels of government, including the very top - meaningless talk mixed with a threat or two. A sad, sad state of affairs.

Wg321: Where are the defenders of the Malay race? Where is Isma, the frog and the former senior judge of Perkasa and all those pro-Umno anti-Chinese NGOs?

Please come to your sense that it is not the Chinese who suppressed the Malay race. It is Umno that is destroying the Malay race by practising endemic corruption, cronyism, nepotism, rent-seeking, kleptocracy, massive leakages and wastages of resources, abuse of power, poor governance, brain drain and capital drain, etc.

Clearwater: I’m looking forward to more. I would love to get the movie rights to the 1MDB story.

Already have a title in mind - it's not about a ‘wolf’ but a ‘whale’, and not about Wall Street but Putrajaya.
