Since Malaysian politics is now in limbo, Lim Kit Siang is pondering if the time has come for a "Save Malaysia" coalition federal government.
According to him, this new government should comprise MPs from both sides of the political divide who defend constitutionalism and rule of law.
Stressing that it was his personal view and not DAP's stand, he said the prime minister could come from either side.
"Suddenly, Malaysian politics on both sides of the political divide seems to be in no man’s land," he added in a statement.
The veteran DAP leader said the BN government remains rudderless under Prime Minister Najib Abul Razak, whose major initiatives have been "discredited and in tatters".
As for Pakatan Rakyat, the Gelang Patah lawmaker said the opposition bloc is now facing its biggest crisis ever.
"Nobody can say whether there would be a Pakatan in the next few days," he added.
Hadi's 'afterlife vision'
Lim said this was a result of the success of Umno’s latest plot in the "unity government conspiracy" between Umno and PAS.
He also blamed PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang ( left in photo ) for giving priority to his "afterlife vision", using it as a justification to commit multiple violations of the Pakatan common policy framework and the decisions of the Pakatan leadership council.
Lim was responding to the controversy surrounding the hudud bill, which was passed in Kelantan last week with the undivided support of Umno state assemblypersons.
In an immediate response, DAP Youth chief Teo Kok Seong expressed support for Lim's proposal.
He urged all BN Youth wings to quit BN, especially MCA and Gerakan Youth, to discuss forming a 'Save Malaysia' youth coalition.
Since DAP Youth has already "frozen" its ties with PAS Youth, Teo said he has no qualms in supporting Lim’s suggestion.
