Pahang Mentri Besar Adnan Yaakob is having a problem deciding whether to support Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in his feud with former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

This is because he is torn between his relationship with a 'father' and a 'brother', reported Sin Chew Daily quoting a source.

It said Adnan ( right ), who is also the state Umno liaison committee chairman, considers Mahathir as a father and Najib as a brother.

"(If) Adnan had his way, he may never declare who he backs on this issue.

"Adnan is 'sandwiched' between his ties of comradeship with the current premier as well as his appointment as mentri besar back in 1999 by the then premier," it said.

This has made the Pahang Umno liaison committee among the few states which has yet to declare support for Najib, besides the Kedah Umno liaison committee.

Mukhriz to announce on Apr 24

Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir will announce on April 24 whether the state Umno endorses Najib's leadership, which has come under intense criticism from his father Mahathir.

Najib won the Pekan parliamentary seat in 1976 at the age of 23 following the demise of his father Abdul Razak Hussein, the second prime minister.

Mahathir has renewed his new round of attacks against Najib on April 2 by raising the 1MDB scandal and the cold-blooded murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu.

Mahathir had claimed that BN will be defeated in the next general election if Najib still leads Umno.
