Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar has vowed not to interfere if an investigation is launched on his brother regarding the protest outside a church in Taman Medan.

"Every police report made (about the protest) will be investigated [...] I am not worried if action is taken against my brother.

"I will not interfere with the police investigations [...]

"I am very professional. Brotherly sentiments will not influence me," he told reporters in Bukit Aman.

Khalid's brother Abdullah, had been involved in Sunday's protest, where some 50 Taman Medan Muslim residents forced a church to take down its cross.

Abdullah, who is an Umno branch leader, however claimed that he was there to mediate between the protesters and church.

'Prove that I practice double standards'

Meanwhile, Khalid refuted allegations that he had shown double standards in this case.

"Since when have they not said that I practice double standards. This has been going on since I was Selangor police chief.

"Double standards, double standards. Prove that I am double standards," he said.

Meanwhile, Abdullah told Malaysiakini later that his brother had advised him not to comment on the issue.

"I was advised by my brother and many people not to comment on this matter anymore.

"The matter is already done. I don't want to come out with any remarks that will contradict the authorities," he said.
