Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has been challenged to demand answers on 1Malaysia Development Berhad's deals with Tabung Haji and the Pensions Fund (KWAP).

If he fails to secure satisfactory answers, then PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli said Khairy should quit as youth and sports minister.

"I challenge Khairy to be the voice in Umno that demands transparency.

"If he does not get satisfactory answers, it will be appropriate for him to take the principled step to resign from the cabinet," he said in a statement today.

Previously, Umno Youth had claimed that it was satisfied with Najib's explanation on the 1MDB issue and gave him a rock star-like reception .

However, when the Tabung Haji issue deal erupted, Umno Youth also expressed concern and sought answers .

Rafizi also wanted the management of Tabung Haji, KWAP, the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) and Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) to openly state any businesses ties with 1MDB.

This includes the issuing of bonds or loans as well as purchasing land.

Sell land back to gov't

KWAP had today announced that it too would purchase 1MDB-owned land in the Tun Razak Exchange at RM2,300 psf.

Tabung Haji made a similar deal recently but is now forced to resell the land following public pressure.

On this matter, Rafizi wanted 1MDB to sell all its property assets back to the government at the original price it was sold at, which is RM72.20 psf.

"Any sale (of land) to Tabung Haji, KWAP, EPF, LTAT, and PNB must be done directly via the government," he said.

Besides this, Rafizi also demanded Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to order all agreements and contracts where 1MDB land was purchased with public money to be cancelled.

"Najib must order all agreements and contracts involving the sale of land from 1MDB to  public fund agencies to be cancelled immediately via a mutual termination of contract," he said.

These land deals, he added, resulted in government losses as 1MDB could reap huge profits from selling land it purchased cheaply, all to settle its massive RM42 billion debt.
