MH370 Malaysia Airlines reiterated its commitment to continuously assist family members of the MH370 passengers via alternative platforms and that the reopening of the Family Communication and Support Centres will not be necessary, said the airlines.

It was referring to reports of a staged protest by family members on the withdrawal of the Malaysian and Chinese governments and Malaysia Airlines in the operations of MH370’s Family Communication and Support Centres in China.

MAS had closed the centres in Beijing and six other provinces in the country.

“As has been communicated to the family members, Malaysia Airlines will continue to provide information and maintain communication through dedicated hotline numbers and email address for the next of kin to enquire on general and compensation matters,” it said in a statement today.

In addition, Malaysia Airlines has reached out to family members in Beijing through a face-to-face engagement on  May 15, 2015.

Regular updates will continue to be available on the official website of MH370 via the URL http://www.mh370.gov.my , it said.

The Beijing-bound international scheduled passenger flight MH370, with a total of 239 people (227 passengers and 12 crew) on board, departed the KL International Airport at 12.42am on March 8, 2014.

Less than 40 minutes after take-off, air traffic controllers lost radar contact with the aircraft after passing waypoint Igari.
