Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai has finally paid up on his outstanding traffic summonses, after this was revealed by a DAP lawmaker who urged police to arrest the transport minister.

In a statement yesterday, Liow's press secretary Lim Chau Leng confirmed that Liow has paid the summonses.

"Regarding Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng's claim that the minister has three outstanding summonses, we would like to state that the minister has paid the summonses today (Monday)."

"Among the three summonses, one is on the tinted glass (on Liow’s car). While another two were sent to his old address, from where Liow has already moved out."

Lim ( photo ) at a press conference on Sunday made public the traffic police summonses issued to Liow, which showed he had two outstanding summonses for speeding issued under the Automated Enforcement System (AES).

"Why didn't Liow pay the fines? Should the people follow the minister as an example?

"The police should immediately bring him to court for the unpaid traffic summonses, or call off the ongoing Ops Warta," the DAP lawmaker declared.
