YOURSAY ‘Now I am being hit below the belt with the petrol hike.’

RON95, diesel up 10 sen to RM2.05 per litre

CQ Muar: Now we begin to understand our prime minister's confidence the RM42 billion debt will be made good.

From Goods and Services Tax (GST), and now fuel price hike and what else down the line, this will soon close the gap of the billions that mysteriously went missing.

I bet PM Najib Razak and his wife will be having a sound sleep tonight after the many criticisms directed at him by former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad and others.

In any case, regardless of the recovery, Najib must be hauled up by the relevant authorities for explanation over the RM42 billion debts.

We know this is akin to "asking for the moon", knowing the kind of authorities dominated by Umno-BN, but the whole nation will be watching and this will provide fodder to attack the government come the next GE.

As expected, MCA, Gerakan, MIC, etc, will maintain their elegant silence.

Kangkung: Deputy Finance Minister Ahmad Maslan, the rakyat is very interested to know what is the Umno government doing with the billions which were once used to subsidise fuel? Is that money now being used to subsidise 1MDB?

Legit: The government refuses to show the calculations. I am very sure the motoring public is now subsidising the government every time they pump petrol. This could amount to billions of ringgit a month.

This money is used to bail out 1MDB and to finance the lavish lifestyle of the PM, wife Rosmah Mansor and the ministers. The public are taken for suckers.

Ipoh Pp: This will not be an end to the increases in prices. The minister can say/warn traders not to increase prices, but they will continue to do it, so what can he do about it?

This is nothing but talk, talk and more talk. My coffee will go up by another 10 sen tomorrow and I will feel the pain.

Doc: I was just in front of the TV watching a documentary today on CNN on why there is an oversupply of oil and gas from a multitude of sources (shale oil, deep sea oil and the normal surface oil) and countries which are not traditionally oil and gas suppliers in the past have become oil and gas suppliers thus driving down oil and gas prices internationally, resulting in a global crisis.

The only country in the world not affected by global economic and financial trends is Malaysia. Everywhere in the world oil and gas prices going down, but in Malaysia it is going up.

For the past one year, I was repeatedly kicked in the butt with the uncontrolled inflation rate. On April 1, I was stabbed in my back by the BN government with the GST knife.

Now I am being hit below the belt with the petrol hike. Man, how long must I endure this economic torture.

Wong Fei Hoong: Well done, Najib. You sure know how to make the poor rakyat pay for your RM42 billion adventure. Yet another round of price increases after GST. Malaysia definitely has endless possibilities.

Next to go up, electricity rates and then everything will go up, again.

Dont Just Talk: Thank you fellas for helping in maintaining the new VVIP jet, which  allow our PM and his band of merry men cabinet ministers to hold their meeting in the air, as time is precious and also where danger looms on the ground.

Dalvik: (Impersonating those BN cybertroopers) Subsidy removal is important for country development. Countries that do not rely on subsidies can prosper well.

With masterplan such as 1MDB, which has assets of over RM50 billion, with BR1M that helps the needful (oh yes, BR1M is never a subsidy, mind you), our nation will become high income nation by 2020.

We should all give support to Najib relentlessly.

NGO thanks Najib for surprise petrol hike 'treat'

Anonymous_40f4: Umno Baru-BN always claims that they are a caring government and in GE13, they made sweet promises that they will bring prices down, including for cars.

But after GE13, everything has risen in cost. They are killing the rakyat with GST and the increase in petrol prices.

Overlord: Keep increasing the petrol price without mercy. We will have fewer cars but more motorbikes. With the ‘superb’ conditions on the roads, more fatal accidents can be expected.

There will be fewer lower-income people, so less BR1M payout. Then BN will get some surplus to plug the 1MDB holes.

Fateh: The petrol price was supposed to go up in May but did not due to two by-elections in May, so the rakyat should be thankful that they managed to save some money in May.

Raja1949: They spend under the pretext of 1MDB and we support them through the petrol price hike and GST.
