1MDB Real Estate Sdn Bhd (1MDB RE) today announced that the request for proposal process for its Bandar Malaysia development in Sungai Besi in Kuala Lumpur is now under way.

On June 12, 1MDB had expressed the intention to launch a request for proposal process for its unit, Bandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd, in the next two weeks, to select qualified equity investors to partner with it in the overall development of Bandar Malaysia.

1MDB RE, which is the project’s master developer, has begun to advertise in local newspapers this week with a request for expressions of interest.

The unit of 1MDB had also announced that it was seeking development partners to participate in the 197-hectare project.

“The closing date for submission of expressions of interest is July 10, with CH Williams Talhar & Wong acting as the real estate advisor and managing the exercise,” 1MDB RE said in a statement.

Bandar Malaysia will be a mixed-use urban development that is expected to serve as a catalyst for the transformation of Greater Kuala Lumpur.

The city is strategically located within seven kilometres of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre.
