If nothing to hide, why fear Pua in PAC?

YOURSAY ‘If the goal is to seek truth on 1MDB, then he must be on the team.’

Pua: I’m outnumbered 8 to 1, what's to fear?

Kim Quek: Umno’s sense of panic seems to be fast building up, now that even Parliament speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia has also thrown his hat into the ring of a growing chorus of Umno ministers and leaders calling on DAP MP Tony Pua to recuse himself from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) hearing the 1MDB scandal.

Pandikar, it sounds to me that you are threatening Pua. For what? For speaking the truth so meticulously and eloquently that the entire hierarchy of Umno seems to have been riled up by such exposure?

If so, your latest action is unhelpful to the image you are trying to cultivate as a reformist speaker to champion parliamentary democracy.

Pua has done exceptionally well in battling the ruling elite to prevent a cover-up of the greatest raid on public funds in the history of the country through 1MDB, for which the people of this country owe him an eternal debt.

He has the support and appreciation of all patriotic people of the country, and any injustice done against him will certainly not be taken lightly.

Anonymous #97893788: In fact, BN members should be barred from the PAC and NGO representatives appointed to hear the testimony. This is because BN MPs have failed in their duty to safeguard the country’s interest.

Bamboo: Umno wants Pua out of PAC as he is well-versed with numbers. Pua would ask incisive questions that would be difficult to answer. I am waiting to see 1MDB chief Arul Kanda and former CEO Shahrol Halmi squirm.

FutureMalaysians: Pua, please remain in PAC, whatever happens. We need you to raise pertinent issues regarding 1MDB. There are lots of fishy business going on in an attempt to pull the wool over the public’s eyes.

Que Sera Sera: Why are DAP leaders not speaking out openly in support of Pua in his endeavour to expose this humongous financial scandal?

I have noticed that he appears almost alone in his fight to unearth all the 'dirty' truths in ‘1Malaysia Dah Bankrap’. In fact, the only comrade-in-arms he appears to have is Rafizi Ramli, who is from PKR, not DAP.

In the meantime, Pua, please continue with your very valiant effort to uncover the truth and, perhaps, help to locate and bring back the RM42 billion (probably more than this by now).

Lee Hup Say: Pua should resign from PAC or at least should not be involved in hearing of 1MDB case as he has been making negative statements against 1MDB and its officers. The other members of PAC have not made any statements and thus should continue.

Even former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is biased and thus is not qualified to comment on PAC matters.

Pua has not only demonstrated that he is biased against 1MDB but he has proven he is not professional, and does not know how to separate his duty as a member of the PAC, and his role as a member of the opposition who only wishes to see the downfall of the ruling party.

It is clear that the issue is not 1MDB any longer. Pua just wants PM Najib Abdul Razak to go and the 1MBD issue is being used as the excuse to oust him. They do not care if 1MDB can account for the money or even if it can show it had made a profit.

In fact, he wants Najib out now before the investigation is concluded in case the investigation proves they were wrong and they can no longer use this issue to demand Najib’s resignation.

Is Pua really concerned about 1MDB or more concerned about replacing Najib with a new prime minister from Pakatan Rakyat?

Anonymous #21828131: First the prime minister wanted PAC to investigate. Now that you know there is no way out, you try to pre-empt the would-be findings.

The rakyat want the truth and we want credible people in PAC who are well-versed with what’s going on. Otherwise the PM might just as well call it off, and face the wrath of the rakyat.

Even so, this could end up just like the recent finding by our police on the purchase of the apartment block in Melbourne. So why be so worried?

Ipoh Pp: "He makes biased statements, he should be ashamed, his party should be ashamed, his supporters and those associated with him should also feel ashamed," Ahmad Shabery Cheek reportedly said.

We surely know who we should be ashamed of. You don't need to tell us. We are grown-ups and know the score and who is stuffing their pockets with our money.

Obs: By the logic of this Umno minister - that one should be ashamed of pointing out wrongdoing - then the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should be ashamed when it does investigations, police and prosecutors should be ashamed when they prosecute criminals.

Even Pandikar wants to poke his nose in to advise Pua on how he should do his job. Why did he not ask for himself to be appointed as a PAC member?

Samah: What's new? Such is the political culture of BN. Shoot the messenger and let the guilty go scot-free. Now the Umno politicians are twisting the arguments to remove Pua and completely muddling attempts to shed light on the 1MDB fiasco.

Prudent: Clearly, they fear that the truth will be wringed out of them.

SameSame: If the BN leaders are so concerned that the investigation process is being shamed, they should be asking Najib to take leave as prime minister and finance minister - for he is directly implicated.
