A second person died today from injuries suffered in a water park explosion in Taiwan over the weekend, the state-run Central News Agency reported.

Liu Chih-wei, 19, was pronounced dead at Taichung Veterans General Hospital, the agency said.

Liu was sent to hospital with burns to over 90 per cent of his body after the blast at the Formosa Water Park in New Taipei on Saturday, the report said.

A 20-year-old woman died from burns on Monday.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare said 267 remained in intensive care.

According to New Taipei City Government, an investigation report would be released on Friday. The probe has focused on more than 40 cigarettes left at the scene.

Investigators said today that they have ruled out the possibility that the blaze was triggered by the lighting system, according to the Apple Daily .
