The Pahang Umno liaison committee will not stop any division from inviting deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin and vice-president Mohd Shafie Apdal from officially opening their delegates’ conference.

Pahang Umno liaison committee chairperson Adnan Yaakob said the right to invite was with the head of the division and no condition had been set for them to invite any particular person.

“We in Pahang are very liberal. Only certain issues have to be discussed before a decision is made. But we do not stop any invitation to officially open the division meeting,” he said in Bera today.

Adnan, who is also Pahang Mentri Besar, was speaking to reporters after presenting title documents to 763 settlers from Felda Rentam, Felda Mengkuang, Felda Tembangau 01 and Felda Tembangau 02 at the Bera Rakan Muda Complex in Bera today.

Muhyiddin had earlier been invited to officially open two Umno delegates’ conferences - the Cameron Highlands division at the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan LKPT Sungai Koyan, Raub and Lipis division at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Silver Jubilee Hall, Kuala Lipis on Aug 15.

Meanwhile, Mohd Shafie is scheduled to officially open the Bentong Umno division delegates’ conference at the Bentong Town Hall on Aug 22.

Muhyiddin and Mohd Shafie were dropped from the cabinet line-up by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in the reshuffle on July 28.

Adnan also said he actually encouraged Umno divisions in Pahang to invite more leaders from the party’s supreme council to officiate their delegates’ conference.

“I myself have said there is no need to invite me because it is better to give more chances to the supreme council members and others to come, officially open and give their views,” he said.

Adnan also urged the public to support their prime minister and said the public should not be easily influenced by accusations on the social media, but should instead wait until investigations are completed.

Meanwhile, commenting on the grants which were handed out today, Adnan reminded the settlers that the grants could not be sold or transferred to anyone except their husbands, wives or children.

However, the state government was willing to consider requests to use the land grants as collateral to banks to obtain capital for businesses, he said.

Adnan said in 2015, a total of 846 settlers had received their land titles, comprising 179 settlers in Felda Krau 1, Felda Lepar Hilir 2 (359 settlers) and Felda Keratong 10 (308 settlers).

This figure has raised the total number of settlers in Pahang, who have received their land titles after repaying for the land, to 36,875 settlers or 85.5 percent of 43,124 settlers.
