Syed Ali: Bersih 4 a slap for the Malays

Cheras Umno division chief Syed Ali Alhabshee said the Bersih 4 gathering over the weekend has taught Malays to be united and not to fight among themselves.

“Are the Malays proud to see thousands of Chinese in the streets condemning Malay leaders,” he asked in his latest blog posting adding the Malays are allowing themselves to be a tool for the DAP.

Describing DAP as a racist political organisation, Syed Ali said the party does not bring any benefit to the Malays. The Malays have to only look at the separation of Singapore and the role DAP leaders played, the Umno division chief said.

“We have to understand DAP's political history and realise that this racist party is only using Malays as a tool,” he said.

Syed Ali ( photo ) claimed the Bersih 4 gathering was a big blow to Malays especially those staying in the city with Chinese dominating the gathering and this, he added, showed that they did not care for a harmonious nation.

What is clear is that Chinese, namely DAP, controlled the rally while Malays only followed, he claimed

“The Malays become followers as they follow the DAP. This is sad. It is not a racial issue but what is prevalent is that there were more Chinese there compared to the Malays,” he said adding the illegal rally gave a signal that the non-Malay extremists were willing to do anything at the expense of the country's stability.

“It is a clear message that one day the Malays would be sidelined in their own country as long as they are not united,” he said.

'Arrest those who stepped on PM, Hadi photos'

He also added he was sad to see Malays allowing non-Muslims to condemn other Malay leaders. He poined to the incident of the rally-goers stepping on a leader's photograph as evidence of such rude behaviour.

“They are stepping on images of Malay leaders who are Muslims and this shows they are extremist and have rude behaviour. Do we not feel a loss of pride in witnessing the photographs of our leader being stepped on by non-Muslims,” he asked.

“This is not the Malay or a civilised Malaysian culture as the government may only be removed through elections and not through illegal street protests,” he said, reminding Umno members to be united in face of challenges.

“There is no use of fighting with one another as this would disrupt the unity that has been built so far,” he said.

Meanwhile, Umno Youth deputy chief Khairul Azwan Harun has urged Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also the Home Minister to take action on those who stepped on the pictures of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang during the rally.

“We urge Ahmad Zahid to take action on these provocateurs who stepped on the pictures.

“Use the various technologies including video recording, images and others to bring them to justice. We are concerned that it would seem unhealthy to the public if action is not taken against them,” he said in a statement today.
