Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin wants stern action to be taken against those who were found to have broken the law at Wednesday's 'Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu' red shirt rally.

"We are not stopping them from being involved in any demonstration or activities.

"But what is important is that if some of them were found to have broken the law, then action must be taken," he told reporters after launching the National Sports Day at Midvalley Megamall today.

When asked about the fracas in Petaling Street, Khairy said he would leave the matter to the police.

"Let the police investigate it," he said.

Khairy also concurred with Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin that all racial provocations should stop.

"If there is any racial provocation, we must stop it. We don't want there to be racial tensions," he said.

On Wednesday some 45,000 people gathered in Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur to demonstrate against the allegedly Chinese-dominated Bersih 4 rally.

The rally was marred by racist slurs from participants and Malay leaders who spoke at the protest.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak yesterday praised the National Silat Federation (Pesaka) for organising the rally, which he said proved Malays were peaceful law-abiding citizens.
