YOURSAY ‘Without PAS, the new Pakatan certainly has more harapan to succeed.’

PKR, DAP, Amanah form new opposition pact

Buttman: The soft approach sometimes succeeds where the hard fails. By showing such perfect courtesy, compassion and goodwill towards Abdul Hadi Awang and the ulama-led PAS, PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (Kak Wan) has once again taken the moral high ground and left the immoral ones behind to stew in their own bitter brew.

Nobody can ever say now that PAS was elbowed out of Pakatan Harapan. They flushed themselves down the toilet of history in their envy of Anwar Ibrahim and their eagerness to shove their antiquated hudud down our 21st century throats.

I applaud this move wholeheartedly. Bravo, Kak Wan. Long live and prosper, Amanah, PKR and DAP.

Doc: Finally some good news on the political front here in Malaysia in the form of Pakatan Harapan.

It's also great that PAS has decided not to join this new coalition. After all, without PAS, the new Pakatan certainly has more ‘harapan’ (hope) to succeed.

Behsaikong: PAS was not left out; they left themselves out. If they had not been invited, once again DAP would have been blamed and Pakatan Harapan will be branded from its inception as a DAP-dominated coalition which Umno and their red shirts would have loved to proclaim.

Supercession: Pakatan Harapan, congratulations, but please don't screw up again. Learn your lessons and grow in strength. Stray not from your avowed agenda, and don't be ‘effed’ by PAS again.

IamfourU: I never thought I'd feel this way, and as far as I am concerned I'm glad I got the chance to say that all three parties have made the right choice.

Ordinary Guy: Now please register to use a single logo for the 14th general election (GE14).

Yahoo: PAS made two mistakes. The first was when Hadi dropped its progressive members from the party’s central committee. He didn't foresee that some influential members would leave the party.

The second mistake was not attending the Pakatan Harapan inaugural meeting. He made it easy for DAP, PKR and Amanah to form a new opposition coalition. He should have been there and make it difficult for all.

6th Generation Immigrant: After inking the agreement, go all out to recruit the disgruntled members in BN into the party, either as individual or as coalition partners.

These BN parties and many in Umno are waiting to see the rise of a new political coalition to break the apron strings and jump ship.

There are many who are disillusioned with Najib and Umno since the Sept 16 red shirt rally. Make sure bigots are not readily accepted unless they repent and subscribe to Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto.

Don’t worry about PAS. Even if they join Umno, we know now Umno is no longer a united Malay party. This is my harapan and a harapan for all Malaysians.

Clever Voter: The immediate strategy is to win voters’ support in rural communities of both east and west Malaysia.

Seize the middle ground. Engage disenchanted Umno members. But more importantly, someone has to lead at the front.

MA: With this done and sealed, the ball is now at PAS’ feet. Let's see their true colours. I'm gonna bet they will tilt towards BN to 'safeguard maruah Melayu’.

Swipenter: Welcome, Pakatan Harapan. Goodbye, Pakatan Rakyat. Good riddance, PAS.

P Rameswaran Periasamy: I have asked the respective leaders via Twitter on why PSM was not invited to be part of the new Pakatan Harapan.

If they intend to get all like-minded parties, NGOs and civil society to come together to form a coalition to save the country, why was PSM deliberately left out?

I'm not a member of PSM, but it appears that even leaders of Pakatan Harapan have a tendency to not walk the talk.

Sadini: Someone suggested calling a Selangor state election soon. I think this is am idea worth considering. If successful, it will flush out the PAS assemblypersons.

If the election is a resounding victory, it will send the chill down the spines of Umno warlords. This will show them the urgency to get rid of PM Najib Abdul Razak.

The gamble will be, can Parti Amanah Negara get up to speed in building the required grassroots machinery to penetrate the Malay electorate?

With the victory, it may encourage East Malaysian parties to join the coalition.

A small detail to note - to soothe Selangor MB Azmin Ali's anxiety, the coalition needs to assure him that he will remain in his post to avoid subterfuge.

Though some may disagree, Pakatan Harapan needs to cover all possible grounds to avoid needless skirmishes.

James TCLow: Good name 'Pakatan Harapan'. We hope that the ‘PH’ will not be too acidic nor too alkaline.
