Despite ex-chief Ling’s criticism, MCA to stand by Najib

MCA will always stand by the government in shouldering responsibilities and facing challenges for the development of the country, said its deputy president Dr Wee Ka Siong.

He said although the government faced numerous criticisms from various quarters, MCA continued to cooperate and support the government.

"MCA and Barisan Nasional (BN), we are in the same family together we bear the duties and responsibilities of the government.

"We are also united in finding solutions on ways to meet these challenges however, the people's hardship should be made a priority and we value constructive criticisms," he said.

He was speaking to reporters after launching the MCA Johor Baru Cadre Training Camp attended by some 60 youths at A'Famosa Resort today.

When asked to comment on a statement by former MCA president Dr Ling Liong Sik supporting former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad that Najib should resign, Wee said it was Ling's personal opinion.

"I suppose that is his personal opinion as he had always worked closely with Tun Mahathir," he said.

Wee, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, said MCA's future direction should continue to be shared with the public particularly youths and youth groups' acceptance of the party has proven that the party was still relevant.

"We need to take the opportunity to step up efforts in explaining our cause, and in doing so, will help us in our preparations for the upcoming election," he said.
