1MDB needs more time? But justice can’t wait

YOURSAY | ‘Give 1MDB more time when the PM has stalled all efforts to investigate him?’

'Everyone wants 1MDB resolved but nobody is giving it time'

Quigonbond: BN strategic communications chief Abdul Rahman Dahlan should give it a rest in defending the indefensible because it’s clear he can't even separate the trees for the woods. 1MDB is in dire financial straits.

First, the troubled sovereign fund must move out of its situation as efficiently as possible. But second and most importantly, it must be done by people who have integrity.

The trust of the public in the board and supervisors of 1MDB is low at the moment. In another words, they don't trust the board to turn around 1MDB until the pressing issue of accounting for alleged past transgressions have been satisfactorily addressed.

Put another way, imagine someone you trusted is suspected of embezzling your company's money and he refuses to answer your questions, and says instead he wants to fix the company's finances.

Seriously, would you, Abdul Rahman, allow that person to continue to run the company even if he has the most wonderful plans on how to turn the company around?

The Mask: "Abdul Rahman has lamented that everyone wants the 1MDB issue to be sorted but no one is giving it time to do so."

What? Give it more time when your boss has hijacked and stalled all efforts to investigate him?

If you cannot see that he disbanded the task force, removed the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chief, sacked the attorney-general and transferred Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers as a means to buy time, then you are a complete idiot.

GE14NOW!: How much more time is required to rectify the situation? The company has been in such dire straits for years.

Surely strategies would have been taken already, and if none had been taken then the 1MDB team, including Najib must be sacked for total incompetence.

Also, the ‘prime fund-raiser’ asked for six months, but that was some time ago and all that we see is the situation going from bad to worse.

If this was your own company, with your own money, would you still keep this group of idiots who are driving the company to the ground?

Odin Tajué: Abdul Rahman, your statement tells us you are such a pathetically moronic person, as you are unable to tell why the people have been critical of 1MDB, of the events surrounding it which have transpired, and of the actions that have been taken by your ‘Bugis warrior’ and those polishing his sandals.

No wonder you have sought the aid of men such as Ramesh Rao and Lester Melanyi. You are of their level. And that level is just a little higher than the bottom.

Rupert16: In five years, 1MDB accumulated RM42 billion of debts with massive amount of public funds unaccounted for plus RM2.6 billion finding its way to the PM's personal bank account, plus other sideline scams still to be uncovered.

The quicker 1MDB closes shop the better and safer it is for the country. At the moment, the key people involved are just buying time to cover their criminal trails even to the extent of using government agencies to hunt down and arrest whistleblowers and critics of 1MDB.

This injustice and abuse of power has to be stooped immediately, and this can only be achieved when 1MDB is shut down.

Anonymous 122461436161429: There are two things here. One is to catch the crooks who allegedly stole billions via 1MDB and prevent any cover-up and to maintain the integrity of our banking system, and the second is to rescue 1MDB.

Bank Negara is doing the first so that such grand theft and abuse of the banking system will never happen again and to bring back money that has left the country illegally.

As for any rescue, as billions were borrowed and stolen and there were no fundamentals in the first place, 1MDB should be wound down and liquidated which the board is not doing as they are hoping for a miracle.

Anonymous #19098644: Lie after lie, reversal after reversal, deception after deception - that we have proven.

Simple thing, remember Tabung Haji purchase of 1MDB land at inflated price? The promise from Tabung Haji was that it had found three buyers for the land and the matter would be resolved within the week. It’s coming to four months.

The most basic thing of any company is to have its audited account in place. Again they miss the dateline and instead got an extension of six months. How many more six months’ extension must they have?

Which public-listed company gets six months extension to submit their audited accounts? Try telling that to Bursa Malaysia or the Securities Commission.

Turvy: I thought Abdul Rahman had it all solved long ago. Remember how he initiated one of the many fairy tales by alluding to a code on political donations, which was soon followed by a claim that the huge sum found in the PM's account was a donation to keep Umno going so that it could fight IS, the Jews and DAP?

So now Rahman wants more time? But time to do what? There are already questions asked and allegations made that need immediate answers.

Kuasa Rakyat: The 1MBD issue is never about a company trying to solve its problem. It's about a company allegedly trying to defraud the country of billions and billions of ringgit for the benefit of a few people.

For this type of "problem", those involved should be charged with treason immediately - no time should be given.

There is plenty of time given for 1MDB to prove its innocence but what it has done is in fact digging a deeper and deeper hole for itself.

Abdul Rahman misses the 1MDB forest for the trees
