UiTM students who were told to attend a compulsory seminar at the Lendu, Malacca campus last Saturday were told of purported methods of Christian proselytisation of Muslims.
A participant who spoke to Malaysiakini condition of anonymity said the seminar touched on the usage of 'Allah' in the Bible, the pope, Christians in Indonesia and the Crusades.
The speaker told them that Christians are trying to convert Muslims by using the 3Gs - gold, glory and gospel, the participant said.
"It didn't feel like it was for akidah (faith), it felt more like putting down other religions," the participant said.
Participants also were made to stay, even if they were not interested in the topic.
A picture of the seminar posted online showed the title slide of the presentation 'Ancaman Gerakan Pemurtadan Kristianisasi' (Threat of Christian Proselytisation Movement).
The seminar had three speakers, with one being a Special Branch officer from Bukit Aman.
Malacca police chief Chua Ghee Lye and Malacca UiTM corporate communication chief Siti Najah Raihan Sakrani both said that the seminar was meant to strengthen the faith of Muslim students.
