The investigation papers for two cases involving Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak were returned to investigators for further clarification, said Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali today.

The two cases are the investigation into the RM2.6 billion found in Najib's bank accounts and the RM42 million allegedly funnelled to Najib, through former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International.

"After reviewing the testimonies in the investigation papers, we have today returned the papers to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to get more details on the course of action recommended by MACC," said Apandi in a statement.

The investigation papers were submitted to the Attorney-General's Chambers on Dec 31, 2015.

Among others, the MACC recorded the statements of SRC International directors and Najib.

The MACC earlier said preliminary probes showed the RM2.6 billion was a political donation.

Najib said it came from more than one source, but refused to reveal who donated the sum and for what purpose.

He has denied any wrongdoing.
