Hasan gets an ‘A’ for 'Cai Fa Xi Gong' greeting

YOURSAY | ‘It's the thought behind it that counts, so let’s not nit-pick.’

Kuala Pilah MP wishes 'Cai Fa Xi Gong' in CNY greeting

Behsaikong: The intention was good and since the mistake is because the well-wisher was not conversant in the script of another language, no offence was committed nor should any offence be taken over this.

Let us take this attempt for what it was intended: new year greetings from a Malay MP to his Chinese constituents.

Thank you, Hasan Malek. As it has been said, "Those who don't make mistakes, don't usually make anything." Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Oh Ya?: While the ruling elite have often complained the ‘pendatang’ don't bother to understand their customs and culture, do they bother to understand the others?

They are not even sensitive whether their messages are correctly and properly disseminated. And after 57 years as an independent country, nation building is still in its infancy.

Headhunter: It's the thought behind it that counts, so let’s not nit-pick. One only wishes other ministers would follow Hasan’s example to show we are truly one nation.

This is a breath of fresh air compared to the usual rants that are now so common among those Umno people. For this, I give Hasan an ‘A’.

Tulan: Thank you for the well-wishes, Hasan. The most important thing is the ‘niat’ (intention). All religion is good if the heart is good.

Swipenter: Indeed, this is nothing compared to Ibrahim Ali's white ang pows .

Cinta: When you want to do something especially for a special occasion, it's always important to make sure everything is right before you call it a go.

As an MP and former minister, apparently, Hasan has overlooked this point.

Roar For Truth: Grammar and spelling errors can be corrected next year or in the new banners.

What is more important is celebrating this occasion with other Malaysians. Hidup Malaysia.

Muhyiddin pledges to continue struggle to 'heal Malaysia'

Vijay47: Former DPM Muhyiddin Yassin, what you said is something we would expect out of Najib Abdul Razak's own speech-writer, all lofty ideals and promises which at the end of the day come to nought.

If you couldn't "fight for the truth" when you were deputy prime minister, what makes you think you can do anything now?

"Never should we defend what is wrong. As a Muslim, this is a demand of the religion."

Great inspiring line, but why is it that you miserable politicians always bring in religion whenever you open your mouth, is it to impress us that you are good Muslims and therefore good persons?

If that is the case, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Umno must be full of saints.

The Analyser: What is your version of what is right, Muhyiddin? What is your version of the truth? Are either of them the Malaysian version? Or are you simply pushing your own barrow in an attempt to save face?

'Vijay47', why don't you say the same things about "the lofty ideals and promises" that are being peddled by Pakatan Harapan? Because they, too, are churning out the same sort of mindless, feel good pap and people like you lap it up like over-sweetened tea.

Vijay47: 'The Analyser', all that I can say is that people like me are glad we are not people like you. Enjoy your coffee.

Headhunter: Muhyiddin, you had your chance to do all that but you failed miserably. It was good while it lasted, wasn't it?

But now that you have been dumped from the gravy train, what you are saying are just empty words.

Gaji Buta: Are these Umno guys opposing Najib brainless? How can you still be in the same party and claim to promote healing?

You would think these people will form a new party or something like that? Absolutely no guts or principles.

Sans Prejudice: Muhyiddin is apparently on a one-man crusade. His mission may be laudable but it lacks the effectiveness and catalyst for change.

Unless he galvanises the discontented Umno members into positive action for change, his sentiments remain what they are - mere platitudes.

Time is of the essence here. Najib has unleashed all the brutality with his unlimited power to demolish all his critics with raw vindictiveness.

Being coy and submissive, Muhyiddin runs the risk of becoming a non-entity before he even knows it.
