The motion of no confidence against attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali has been received by the Dewan Rakyat, Members of Parliament Coordination Bureau chairperson Johari Abdul said.

Johari, who is also a PKR MP, said the motion was submitted by opposition leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail on Feb 25, and received by the Parliament secretariat on Feb 26.

However, the motion has yet to be included in the Order Paper, he said.

“I have been informed that the opposition leader wants the government to take action against the AG due to loss of confidence towards him,” Johari told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.

He said the loss of confidence follows Apandi’s decision not to prosecute Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak over the RM2.6 billion donation issue.

Wan Azizah, who is PKR’s Permatang Pauh MP submitted the motion of no confidence under Article 145 (3) of the Federal Constitution and parliamentary standing orders 27(1), (2) and (3).

Apandi last January cleared Najib of wrongdoing over the RM2.6 billion found in his bank account and RM42 million channelled to Najib from state firm SRC International.
