The police have recorded DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang's statement on his remarks related to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's speech when officiating this year’s Parliament session.

The Gelang Patah lawmaker was summoned to the Wangsa Maju police station this afternoon in connection with reports lodged on his remarks.

Speaking to reporters later, DAP's Puchong parliamentarian Gobind Singh said Lim is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act.

"This is over a police report filed in Penang. They took 20 minutes to record his statement," Gobind added.

Lim had stated that the Agong's speech, which, among others, called for the continuation of the current administration, was prepared by the government.

However, the DAP leader refused to backtrack, arguing that he was merely stating the position in a constitutional monarchy and that there is nothing malicious to it.

Gobind said the police will inform them on what further action will be taken.

'More than a hundred reports'

Meanwhile, Lim Kit Siang stressed that he did not say anything seditious in response to the royal address and what he uttered was a statement of fact.

"I gave my statement and we will wait for the police outcome.

"I understand that more than a hundred reports have been lodged," said Lim.

He urged the prime minister to answer the questions on his RM2.6 billion and 1MDB scandals in Parliament and not continue to evade from being accountable.

Lim said that every day, there are reports by international media on the two mega scandals which caused Malaysia to be placed in the world’s top 10 corrupt countries.

"The PM must come to Parliament to explain the status of the FBI investigation, whether he is corrupt and whether property or assets concerned are derived from corruption and therefore can be confiscated under American law.

"This is the first time the prime minister of Malaysia is being investigated by the FBI and this is shameful," said Lim.
