Umno supreme council to discuss ‘sacking’ motion at next meeting

A motion for the sacking of Umno leaders involved in the Citizens’ Declaration will be tabled at the party's next supreme council meeting, said Umno supreme council member Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.

He said such an action was necessary as the action of the leaders concerned was against the party regulations.

"It will be tabled at the next Umno supreme council meeting for those who attended the signing or signed the declaration to oust the party president be expelled from the party.

"All procedures will be observed by the party, first by sending show cause letters to them," he told reporters after a meeting with village heads and Umno leaders at the Kuala Kangsar Mara Junior Science College today.

Mohamed Nazri said he believed that reports on the leaders concerned had been submitted to the party's disciplinary committee.

Meanwhile, deputy chairperson of the association of village heads in the Padang Rengas parliamentary constituency, Osman Rani Yang Ramli, said the association had submitted a memorandum to Mohamed Nazri expressing its support for Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin to be sacked from the party.

He said this was because Muhyiddin's action was clearly against the Umno constitution.

"All village heads in the Padang Rengas parliamentary constituency give their full support to president Najib to take the necessary action and measures to restore the image of the party and the government," he added.
