Reports by international media on the RM2.6 billion fund issue linked to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak are unprofessional, Umno supreme council member Mahdzir Khalid.

He said the facts in their reporting were vague and inconsistent, hence creating a bad perception of Malaysia, in their strategy to bring down the prime minister.

"In a (foreign) newspaper report on July 2, 2015, it said the RM2.6 billion fund that was deposited into the prime minister's account was from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), but today, it said it was from Saudi Arabia," he said.

Mahdzir, who is Education Minister, said this at a media conference after opening the '1Sekolah 1Silat' programme at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Kuala Nerang today.

He was referring to news report in The Wall Street Journal which were quoted by local newspapers today.
