The construction of 1,248 houses under the 1Malaysia Housing Project Corporation (PR1MA) in Matang, Gerdu, near Bagan Serai is expected to be completed in 2018.

Alor Pongsu assemblyperson Sham Mat Sahat said work on the houses started last year and was now 70 percent ready.

He said the houses would be sold at prices ranging from RM255,000 to RM260,000 per unit.

"The decision on house ownership is made by PR1MA itself to those eligible regardless of their political background," he told reporters after the registration of PR1MA homes @ Bagan Series today.

He said construction of the PR1MA project in Matang Gerdu also involved facilities, like a community hall and playground.
