Persatuan Veteran Tentera Melayu president Mohd Ali Baharom, better known as Ali Tinju, has accused Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Yunos of threatening to kill him.

Mohd Ali, who lodged a police report at the Dangi Wangi district police headquarters, urged the authorities to revoke Jamal’s gun licence.

According to the police report, Mohd Ali claimed Jamal Yunos made the threat against him through a phone call at around 7.10pm yesterday.

“Among the threats were ‘I will beat you to death’, ‘I will shoot you’ and ‘I will find you until I get... at your home’,” he said in the police report.

“I make this police report as I am afraid of what may happen to me in future and I ask that the police take the necessary action,” he said in the police report.

Speaking to journalists after lodging the police report, Mohd Ali said killing him was akin to killing a general of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

“I would like to tell Jamal, if I - Najib’s general - die, who will be left to take care of (the prime minister’s wife) Rosmah Mansor and Najib?” he said.

He also warned against Jamal’s possible candidacy in the Sungai Besar by-election, accusing him of engaging in gangsterism.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Jamal revealed that he, too, had lodged a police report against Mohd Ali today, denying that he had made the death threats.

Jamal, who lodged the report at Sekinchan police station, said Mohd Ali’s allegation is meant to defame him.

“The statement is with malice and is intended to soil my reputation and embarrass me and my family,” he said in the police report.

Mohd Ali and Jamal were part of the red shirts protest on Sept 16 last year but had fallen out with each other.
