The Barisan Nasional candidate for Sungai Besar, Budiman Mohd Zohdi, has likened both PAS and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) to “two secret lovers” vying for one heart.

This, he said, had led to Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali's “confused” state and eventually withdrawing from the ongoing campaign trail.

“I will contest against PAS. PAS in Selangor is like Azmin’s ‘secret lover’...,” he quipped during a visit to Homestay Batu 23, Sungai Nibong.

The Sungai Panjang assemblyperson said this was because while PKR is ‘married’ to PAS in Selangor, it also has a relationship with Amanah, which in turn is following DAP’s lead.

In urging support for BN, he pointed out that Azmin is now having a headache after both PAS and Amanah had fielded their candidates in Sungai Besar.

“Otherwise now he would be at Muara Resort. Even locals cannot get in because he blocked it for three weeks.

“But it is so fated. Both of the ‘secret lovers’ wanted to fight for the one heart and so he (Azmin) is confused,” he said without elaborating further.

On PAS candidate Dr Abdul Rani Osman, Budiman said it would be too far for the Meru assemblyperson to rush to Sungai Besar if there was any emergencies.

“If there is a son who is near, why do you need to choose someone far away,” he added.

At the same time, he also noted that while Amanah’s Azhar Abdul Shukur is touted as a local candidate, he is still a registered voter in Temerloh.

Also present during the function was Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz.

At a press conference after the speech, Nazri when asked why he had cancelled his event in Kuala Kangsar earlier today, said it was because the candidate was absent.

“I got information, the villagers won’t come out. If they don’t come out then I’ll be embarrassed.

“There I won’t be with the candidate, here I can be with the candidate,” he said.

The crowd of about 100 people earlier held a tahlil for the late Sungai Besar MP Noriah Kasnon who died in the recent Sarawak helicopter tragedy.
