Perak BN did not engage paragliders, says menteri besar

K KANGSAR POLLS The Perak Barisan Nasional had nothing to do with the two paragliders who bore the coalition's flag during nomination for the Kuala Kangsar parliamentary by-election last Sunday, said Menteri Besar Zambry Abdul Kadir.

"We do not know anything about them, and leave it to the authorities to conduct the investigation," Zambry told reporters after chairing a coordination meeting on the Kuala Kangsar by-election in the Perak royal town today.

Kuala Kangsar by-election police spokesperson ACP Shaharon Anuar Abdul Latiff said yesterday the paragliders had not obtained approval from the Department of Civil Aviation.

Zambry, who is also Perak BN chairperson, said today's meeting was to coordinate the programmes that had been drawn up for the by-election campaign.

The BN is in a four-cornered contest in the by-election, which also involves PAS, Parti Amanah Negara and an Independent candidate. The by-election is being held following the death of the MP, Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad, in a helicopter crash in Sarawak on May 5.

The parliamentary constituency of Kuala Kangsar has 32,949 voters.
