Mukhriz's 'hand over' claim just figment of his imagination, says MB

Terengganu Umno has strongly denied a claim by former Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz Mahathir that there was an agreement to 'hand over' Terengganu to PAS in the next general election.

Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said the claim was Mukhriz's assumption and imagination of ill-intention and not based on truth but aimed at creating tension within the party.

The state Umno liaison chairperson said Umno members were mature and wild speculation could not affect the unity as proven when the supreme council unanimously decided to sack Muhyiddin Yassin and Mukhriz.

"Terengganu Umno is confident that it will continue to rule the state after the 14th general election with a bigger majority in votes.

"I urge Mukhriz and other parties not to make Terengganu their political capital for personal gains," he said in a statement in Kuala Terengganu today.

Mukhriz told a function in Kuala Lumpur last night that he suspected there was an Umno-PAS 'agreement for exchange' involving Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan.

Meanwhile, Umno supreme council member Mahdzir Khalid said Mukhriz did not have any basis for making such a claim and was only out to mislead the people.

"Mukhriz should be speaking based on facts and basic consideration," the education minister said after launching the Student Public Smartphone Project (MyFon) at SMK Syed Ahmad in Kuala Terengganu today.

In ALOR SETAR, Kedah Umno Youth chief Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin denied Mukhriz's claim of an Umno-PAS 'agreement' to 'hand over' Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan to PAS after the 14th general election.

"Mukhriz's action will pave the way for Amanah since he is on good terms with the party's senior leaders," he said in a staement today.
