Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong said Chinese votes will swing back to DAP following the trial of Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng over his bungalow purchase.
In an interview with China Press, Mah said the Sarawak elections and the June 18 twin by-election had seen a return of some of the 85 percent of Chinese voters who had supported Pakatan Rakyat and DAP in the 2015 general election.
This, he said, had enabled BN to take five state seats from DAP in Sarawak, and to retain the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar seats.
However, he said, these voters' attitudes will change after Lim's prosecution.
DAP will continue to win massively in the coming general election, China Press quoted Mah saying.
He denied the charging of Lim was a political conspiracy, saying BN has not benefited from it.
"Some said, this is a political conspiracy. I want to ask, how can this help us politically?
"The (people's) sentiment is not favourable to us, especially to Penang (Gerakan), who is stuck now," he said, stressing the party has nothing to gain politically.
Both Umno and DAP would win overwhelmingly if a snap poll is called now, said Mah.
"I don't know what is the sentiment for next year, but with the sentiment now...Umno and DAP will win," he said.
