Don't jack too much until car turns turtle, PAS tells Umno Youth leader

A PAS leader has advised Umno Youth vice-chief Khairul Azwan Harun not to go overboard with his “apple polishing” attempts.

Idris Ahmad was referring to Khairul’s police report alleging a high-level conspiracy to topple Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and the government.

"If you want to suck up (to the prime minister), don't go too far.

“If you want to jack the car, don't jack too high or the car will turn turtle," said the PAS vice- president in a statement.

In his report, Khairul named recently retired Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz, outgoing Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Abu Kassim Mohamed and ex-attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail.

He said the three were suspected of providing confidential information to foreign agencies, including the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), without authorisation.

Khairul also alleged that some of the documents submitted were falsified and the information twisted to achieve their agenda.

However, Idris said the allegations made Malaysia an international laughing stock, and had disturbed the three's retirement.

"Why did you have to stir the hornet's nest?

“They're government officers, when they retire from service, they only want to play with their grandchildren, not be muddled with other problems," he added.

On the same note, he said Khairul's police report could have a positive outcome if it goes to court, where certain secrets might come into the open.

Zeti, Gani, and Abu Kassim, all three of whom have the honorific title of Tan Sri, were previously part of a taskforce probing 1MDB.

The team disbanded after Gani was replaced with Mohamed Apandi Ali last year.

Khairul’s report came in the wake of the United States Department of Justice filing civil suits related to the alleged abuse of 1MDB funds, which contained a slew of damning claims.

The police are expected to quiz him tomorrow on what prompted him to lodge the report and if had evidence to back his claims.
