A PAS leader has advised Malaysian-born businessman Jho Low to return home if he is unable to find a safe haven elsewhere following the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) court filings which implicated him in the alleged abuse of 1MDB.

In a media statement laden with sarcasm, Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said there could be no other safer place for Low.

"When Low returns to Malaysia, he can be sure he will be celebrated. In fact, he will be invited to dine with VIPs to discuss the next project," said the PAS deputy president.

Furthermore, Tuan Ibrahim said the businessman should feel more confident since the National Security Council Act had come into effect.

"Come back Jho Low, no need to be embarrassed. You want to party, you can party in Malaysia, at least then, the money is used in Malaysia.

"The government can also collect GST (from the expenditure)," he added.

On the same note, Tuan Ibrahim said "Malaysian Official 1" would also feel relieved if Low returned, knowing that the latter cannot be remanded in any other country.

In Malaysia, he said numerous government agencies have claimed that money had not gone missing from 1MDB, and that nobody had committed any wrongdoing.

"Although it is played up all over the world, there is still no case relating to 1MDB in Malaysia.

"Not only that, in Malaysia, those who question 1MDB will be investigated, and those who guess who 'Malaysian Official 1' is will be summoned (for questioning),” he added.

Apart from Low, the DOJ filings also named Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s stepson Riza Aziz.

Among others, the 1MDB funds were allegedly used to purchase lavish properties, expensive artworks, settle gambling debts, as well as to buy a plane and a yacht.
