Where did you get the money, DAP MP asks Jamal

Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos must reveal his wealth source or be investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), said Ipoh Barat MP M Kulasegaran.

This is after Jamal, who also leads Gerakan Merah, yesterday said he will give 115 branch chiefs in his division RM1,000 each.

Jamal had said this was an alternative after cancelling his plans to bring the branch chiefs on holiday to Dubai.

"His announcement has raised one question, that is where and what is the source of his funds?

"I am sure not only Umno members but Malaysians too would like to know if the fund comes from his own pocket, his division or donation.

"If the money is from his own pocket, then he has to justify that his income is sufficient for his generosity.

"If Jamal is not prepared to be transparent on his source of fund, then MACC should move in and carry out an investigation," said the DAP lawmaker.

Kulasegaran questioned if this practice validated former minister Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir's claim of money politics in Umno.

"It has shown that money politics is much alive in Umno today. Is Jamal Yunus the real face of Umno? When, if ever, will money politics end in Malaysia?" he said.

Previously, it was alleged that Jamal received RM3 million from Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak for the counter-Bersih 4 protest.

However, Jamal denied the allegation, stating that the counter-protest had nothing to do with the prime minister.
