Permata's accounts? Look in DAP's backyard first, Rosmah's aide tells Yeo

Rizal Mansor, aide to the prime minister's wife Rosmah Mansor, has told DAP's Damansara Utama state assemblyperson Yeo Bee Yin to look in her own backyard.

This is after Yeo accepted Rizal's invitation to visit Permata's but wanted to see the government-funded early childhood education programme's accounts.

Rizal in a statement today said the invitation was only to allow Yeo to learn about Permata.

"We would like to put on record that the invitation by Permata to YB Yeo Bee Yin is to educate (her about Permata) and for her to visit the early childhood care and education centres of Permata.

"We noticed that Yeo seems to only want to scrutinise the books of Permata.

"I would like to advise Yeo to firstly look at her DAP's backyard in the Penang whereby the chief minister is being charged for corruption," he said.

Rizal also suggested that Yeo's enthusiasm was because she was seen as betraying DAP by “complimenting” Permata.

"We know for a fact that being a DAP politician, any compliments made to praise Permata's work would be construed as an act of betrayal by her fellow partisan, especially when the patron of Permata is Rosmah," said Rizal.

Yeo had said that early childhood education programmes, like the one carried out by Permata, were important and they should not be overlooked simply because Rosmah is the patron.

However, she had also criticised Permata for not having a clear strategic direction despite heavy funding from the government.

Rizal had previously reacted positively to Yeo's opinion but today went on the offensive.

He raised controversial projects under the Penang-led government including the RM6.34 billion Penang Tunnel and road projects as well as the Taman Manggis project which has yet to proceed.

Rizal noted that the tabling of the Penang state assembly's Public Accounts Committee report on the tunnel project was also delayed twice.

"If she is serious about public accountability as she claims she is, she should personally make efforts to allow the questionable projects in Penang to be open for public scrutiny," he said.
