YOURSAY | ‘PAS now no longer fights for and defends the rakyat, and as such the decision is expected.’
PAS decides not to join Bersih 5 rally
Clever Voter: PAS’ primary goal is to implement hudud with BN's help. The horse-trading has taken place. Read between the lines when they said they have their own methods of being an effective opposition.
PAS has always been consistent with its primary vision, that is, an Islamic state. How to get there is questionable. The party has failed in its many attempts.
Incorporating the BN opportunists is most realistic. Never mind about the grand theft.
Wg321: PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the Islamic party, in principle, supported Bersih's original demands but noted that the movement now also had other objectives, which the party felt was not in line with PAS' approach.
Can he explain in detail what other objectives that are not in line with PAS’s objectives?
CQ Muar: PAS, you're a wet blanket and seem to have lots of lame excuses and problems with the opposition. Be more specific; enough of your ‘wayang’.
Come on, you're either with the opposition or with BN. Therefore, be firm with your decision and don't be likened to children "main guli".
Mushiro: Unlike the late Tok Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat, who learnt a bitter lesson when Umno played PAS out and was not willing to be played out again, the current set of PAS leaders have sold their souls to Umno.
PAS' decision not to join Bersih 5 rally also means many other things, and Harapan should prepare with new strategies without PAS.
Bersih 5 can still be a success with new support from Amanah and Bersatu.
Fairman: In the next election, voters in the West Coast of the peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak must ensure PAS is buried.
PAS is expecting to win sufficient number of seats, especially in the Malay/Muslim seats to position itself as kingmaker. Then, the party will bargain with either Umno or Bersatu/PKR to form state and federal governments.
We have to go all out to support Bersatu/Amanah/PKR.
RR: The rakyat have spoken umpteen times that PAS will betray the opposition coalition at the eleventh hour and join Umno.
So let Umno-BN and PAS be one coalition. The rest of PKR, DAP, Amanah and Bersatu be the other coalition.
But Amanah, PKR and Bersatu must make real inroads to the Malay heartland to win the next election. It will be a hard battle against Umno-BN financial strength and government machinery. They have to work very, very hard.
Hardboiled: How are the opposition parties to win the next general election if PAS can't even support an event such as Bersih? There is no chance for one-to-one seat fights.
Roger 5201: Not supporting one side means supporting the other side. A lukewarm PAS heading for irrelevance is exactly what Umno ordered.
Anonymous_3f4b: Why should PAS join a Chinese-led Bersih and be supported by their friend-turned-enemy, the DAP?
Bersih, and by its extension, the DAP, only wants to use PAS to bring out rural Malays to look good. PAS can see through their game plan.
After that, they will dump PAS and call it names like never before. Bersih and their Pakatan friends, especially the Chinese, are in a no-win position, even with multiple Bersih rallies until kingdom come.
Demi Rakyat: PAS now no longer fights for and defends the rakyat, and as such the decision is expected, especially now that it is ruled not by integrity and religious convictions but by power and money.
Hearty Malaysian: The refusal of PAS to support Bersih 5 adds weight to the RM90 million "donation" rumour. Though not surprising, but this helps MO1 (Malaysian Official 1) to stay on in power longer.
Harapan, better don't expect PAS' sincerity to cooperate.
NNFC: The possibility that PAS is being funded by Umno is once again quite right. This is because Umno is keen to drive a wedge among the opposition so that votes will be thrown uselessly.
Now, since PAS is not going to join Bersih, it is again correct to see that it has succeeded in splitting the opposition.
Anonymous #70881335: PAS members should show their party leadership that it should support Bersih 5 by turning up in large numbers, for the sake of Malaysia.
Vijay47: At long last, some good news from PAS. We are glad and relieved that you will not be joining us for Bersih 5 next month because if you were there, we would have to constantly watch out for our backs, not knowing when you would stab us there again.
Following your success in the previous general elections, a success that we contributed to, you have become arrogant, deceitful and traitors.
You are now an intrinsic part of Umno and may you fare well with Umno on the road it travels. We will fight our fights on our own.
