Red-shirts leader Jamal Md Yunos today said that he cannot guarantee the actions of his 'hungry' supporters during the Bersih 5 rally this Saturday.

"I am not sure about my supporters because whoever comes on that day, I won't prepare food.

"For sure those who come on that day are 'hungry'," Jamal told a press conference outside PWTC in Kuala Lumpur.

The Umno Sungai Besar division chief said this when asked whether he could ensure that his own counter-rally against Bersih 5 would remain peaceful, as electoral reform coalition Bersih had pledged to ensure a peaceful assembly.

Jamal also insisted that his movement would follow through with their plans to prevent Bersih supporters from gathering, speaking, spreading lies and ultimately inciting hate towards the government.

As for himself, Jamal said he hoped to cross paths with DAP leaders Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng and Tony Pua, as well as former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad on that day.

"If I can, shake hands with Tun Mahathir so that I can fulfill my 'promise' to him," he said without elaborating further.

At an anti-Bersih rally in Kapar last month, Jamal had said he regretted shaking and kissing Mahathir's hand in the past.

“If I met him now I would spit on his hand,” Jamal told his supporters at the rally in Kapar, Selangor.

Quizzed on their exact plans this Saturday, Jamal only reiterated that his red-shirts would be wherever Bersih supporters were gathering.

"I do not want to inform. That is our strategy. We cannot reveal it earlier.

"We will not allow Bersih to do what we interpret as lies, slander and others," he said.

"The red-shirts will start when the yellow shirts start. We will stop when they stop," he stressed, adding that 300,000 of his supporters had been mobilised to attend the rally.

In the event of any arrests, Jamal said he had prepared 38 lawyers for legal assistance.

He also reiterated that his supporters were multiracial and would show a united force against Bersih.

Accompanied by about 50 supporters, Jamal earlier read out what he described to be "Gerakan Merah Version 2" final address before their face-off with Bersih.
