PKR Ampang division Youth chief Adam Rosly, who came under scrutiny after questions about his wealth were raised, is said to run a business exporting furniture overseas in bulk.

This is according to his deputy, Harris Idaham.

"He is doing furniture business, exporting it outside of Malaysia.

"He supplies furniture in big bulks... big amounts," Harris told Malaysiakini when contacted today.

PKR's Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin also confirmed that Adam was in the furniture business, in a WhatsApp message to Malaysiakini.

"Treat him like any businessman," she said in the message.

She also clarified that he was not her special officer and that he was an elected leader of the party's youth division in Ampang.

Adam first came under the spotlight after Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos questioned the 28-year-old's wealth.

Jamal, who is also the red-shirts leader, yesterday took journalists on a helicopter ride for an aerial view of Adam's bungalow in Ampang and alleged that the house was worth RM7 million.

The PKR man had denied this and said that he bought the bungalow for RM1 million at an auction.

Ampang Umno division chief Ismail Kijo had also said they would be filing reports with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and Inland Revenue Board on Adam's wealth.

Harris also addressed rumours that Adam used to live in a public housing flat under the People's Housing Programme (PPR), saying that while that was true, it was a number of years ago.

He clarified that Adam did not move from the PPR flat directly to the bungalow he resided in now.

Before he moved into the bungalow, Harris said Adam had lived in a "nice enough" house somewhere else in Ampang.

"It is not a sudden shift because he did not move into this house from the PPR flat.

"From the PPR flat, he moved into a house which is smaller than this (current) house, and then he got this house.

"From what I understand, he (Adam) managed to strike some good business deals with certain countries," he said.

Earlier today, PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli had also urged Adam to declare his assets to put an end to the controversy surrounding his wealth.

Responding to this, Harris reiterated that they would give their full support to any agencies investigating Adam's wealth.

"If we are advised to clarify assets, I'm sure he would do it without any fear," he said.

However, Zuraida said that since Adam was not a civil servant, it was not necessary for him to declare his assets.

Adam did not respond to calls or messages from Malaysiakini on this matter.
