Selangor says MPK never approved fireworks display

Majlis Pembandaran Klang (MPK) said it did not approve the New Year’s Eve fireworks display at Pesta Gegar Klang 2016, which injured more than a dozen people when it exploded at ground level.

The fireworks show was not listed on the official programme of the event, according to Selangor executive councillor in charge of local government Ean Yong Hian Wah.

The MPK investigation team set up on Jan 1 will reveal their findings in two weeks, he said.
