The beds-and-ice cream protest by Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos yesterday garnered praise from Local Government and Urban Wellbeing Minister Noh Omar.

On Wednesday, Jamal set up 10 single beds, gave out free ice cream and provided a massage demonstration in front of the Selangor state secretariat building in Shah Alam, to protest what he claimed was a proliferation of brothels fronting as massage parlours in the state.

"I see it as a proactive move since there have been many complaints by NGOs, including Umno Youth on this, but no action has been taken.

"There were all sorts of allegations that there were many illicit massage parlours in Selangor when BN was in power (before 2008), but there are three or four times more under this administration," he was quoted as saying by website Selangor Post.
