The Johor palace will not interfere with any investigations in the state, said Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar.

"The palace does not interfere nor does it protect anyone," Sultan Ibrahim was quoted as saying by The Star.

The monarch said this while commenting on the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's probes in the state.

He said the anti-graft agency must be allowed to carry out its duties.

"Let the MACC carry out its investigations and allow the law to take its course.

"I encourage these agencies to carry out their work without fear or favour," he said.

Sultan Ibrahim also said that he receives regular updates from the MACC.

The MACC is currently probing a graft case involving the conversion of bumiputera property titles in the southern state.

The agency detained Johor exco Abd Latiff Bandi yesterday, and raided his home, confiscating RM42,000, a Toyota Vellfire and 150 handbags. A magistrate's court in Johor Baru granted a seven-day remand against him earlier today.

Previously, the MACC arrested six individuals over allegations of graft involving the conversion of bumiputera land titles in exchange for kickbacks.

Among others, the MACC arrested Abd Latif's son and the exco member's special officer.

The MACC also seized 26 luxury vehicles and froze 45 bank accounts in connection with the case.

Abdul Latif went on indefinite leave last Wednesday.
