Had the government officials - who attended the EGM on behalf of the government as shareholders and voted in favour of the merger - did indeed have the authority to do so?

On 'Pak Lah, tell us the truth'

Senior Citizen:

I think the critical question to zero in is this: Had the government officials - who attended the EGM on behalf of the government as shareholders and voted in favour of the merger - did indeed have the authority to do so?

The shareholders and regulatory authority in this case appears to be one and the same entity. One has not much to pick on the government as the regulatory authority since the shareholders had voted in favour of the takeover.

I am sure many small shareholders of Avenue Capital, the writer included, could only suffered in silence.

On Coliseum stays open

Louis Lew: It's a great victory against the relentless demolishing force of powers-that-be in name of "development".

How about the historic mansion The Bok House on Jalan Ampang? The Badan Wawasan Malaysia is urging the ministry in charge to list the building as a national heritage to protect this treasure of our nation from further deterioration and re-development. ()

The mansion has so many documented distinctive architectural achievements that the government ought to act to protect it under the National Heritage Act 2005. Please stay vigilance as Coliseum is only safe for now as those with connection will always lurk at any opportunity to grab it.

On UN urged to stop temple demolition row

Anon: I sympathised with Hindarf chief P Waythamoorthy. I am not surprised that he didn't get any response from the all the complaints that he made to all the high officials in government. I have experienced it... so now you know what kind of government and leaders we have.

I am sure if it is a mosque, the response will be immediate and they would not demolished it. Firstly, the idea won't even come out at all. Similarly, when they want build a mosque, they can acquire any land they want (e.g. like a case in Johor Bahru where state government approved to build a mosque on a gazetted "padang").

Is there really a true freedom of religion and places of worship? Is our government and leaders really open?

On Dr Koh diminta buktikan keikhlasan bantu Melayu PP

Jed Yoong: Ketua Umno bahagian Bukit Mertajam, Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir mahu Ketua Menteri Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon membuktikan keikhlasannya untuk memajukan orang Melayu dan bukan sekadar bercakap kosong sahaja.

I believe their needs have been addressed in our national policy of bumiputera privileges.

On Umno division at odds over Dr M

YSM: It's amazing how the ministers will back and support whoever is in power by throwing their conviction and opinions out the window. Rafidah Aziz herself admitted that in 1997 they backed Mahathir when going against Anwar.

One wonders how far they are willing to go to skin a cat and to support the leader. All I can say is I really do not need any BN MP representing me or the community in the government. It's a loss cause.

On Nalla to join PKR

Ah Chong: I believe in what Keadilan is doing from the day I heard Ezam Mohd Nor spoke about the vision of Keadilan six years ago. If we believe in Malaysia as an entity, a melting pot of Asia and a special bond of true unity among the races, not "tolerance", then we need to allow the formation of Keadilan and its potential as government of the day.

After all, it is this model which can better reflect the society of Malaysia. There is no better time than now and no better person then the leaders of Keadilan to bring Malaysia to the forefront of a competitive and borderless world.

If we continue to allow race-based politics and policies in this little cocoon we call Malaysia, then we will lose out internationally as we are already see ourselves slipping economically.

On Anwar to Dr M: Name all corrupt ministers

Ahmad Fuad: It is not only Anwar. I believe all Malaysians demand the list of the corrupt ministers - dulu, kini dan selamanya!

And since the ACA is so toothless, just publish the names and be done with it!
