Umno president and Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said yesterday that the party has decided not to take any action against his predecessor over his continued attacks on the government.
Party leaders had earlier urged the powerful council to strip Dr Mahathir Mohamad of his advisory roles in various government-linked agencies and companies. They had also wanted him to be sacked from the party.
At a press conference at the end of the three-hour council meeting, Abdullah spoke briefly on the party's decision on Mahathir.
Malaysiakini.tv was there to record the press conference.
