Two construction workers were killed and another 12 injured here when the scaffolding they were standing on collapsed.
Muhammad Zulkarnain Abdul Rahman, chief of Kuala Lumpur's Dang Wangi police station, said a 35-year-old Burmese worker and a 50-year-old Malaysian were killed in the accident, in the major shopping area of Bukit Bintang located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
"They were standing on a scaffolding and plastering a wall. There was also granite slabs on the scaffolding. Due to the heavy weight of the slabs, the scaffolding gave way," he said.
"The two fell some 15 feet to the ground and were hit by the slabs on their heads and face ... killing them instantly," he told AFP .
Muhammad said 12 other workers who also fell suffered injuries.
"One worker is in critical condition while another 11 Indian nationals are being treated for minor injuries," he added.
