It is necessary to establish an independent body to study whether the civil service number quoted at 1.2 million is too big to service our small population. Identify the category of surplus and redundant officers across the board and the departments concerned.
On 166,659 vacancies in 'bloated' civil service
KSN: It is necessary to establish an independent body to study whether the civil service number quoted at 1.2 million is too big to service our small population. Identify the category of surplus and redundant officers across the board and the departments concerned.
Some of my civil service friends tell me that 400,000 to 500,000 can be dispensed with without any impact on delivery of efficient services. Whether political consideration is a factor in creating posts and recruitment will be easily assessed and established by the independent study referred to earlier.
The long-term financial burden on the nation in terms of monthly salaries and pension has to be seriously taken into consideration. Take good care of the retained workforce minus the trimming. That is the way to move forward. I support the announced revision.
On Pua challenges Khairy to a debate
Ratormo: What Tony Pua said is something every Malaysian knows. It is actually an open secret but no one wants to admit it. If KJ wants an apology from him, he should ask 'Kerishamudin' to apologise first for what he did and said at the Umno AGM.
Only if the cycle of discrimination is eliminated, we can move forward as Malaysians.
On Nalla quits party, tightlipped over future plans
M Poobalan: Best wishes to K Nallakarupan and others who wish to leave PKR. Some are only interested in positions and in becoming elected reps. This is a reflection of their selfish desires. PKR is concerned with ideas to develop the country and citizens.
Nalla et al couldn't contribute any ideas and they have taken the stand of having been 'betrayed'. The fact is that Nalla betrayed himself and is as selfish as any other politician in the MIC and IPF.
Ushiv: Nallakarupan and his types - self-centered, self-serving ex-MIC nobodies - should realise what it means to be in a multiracial party. It means Malay, Chinese or Indian leaders who represent the interests of all irrespective of race or religion. I have no problems if there are no Indian leaders at the top of the party structure; but all leaders must work for all communities without even an iota of favouritism. This is what is meant by multiracialism, not the present Umno-led piracy.
What Nalla wanted was to be the boss of a little MIC within PKR and that should never happen. One MIC (Malaysian Indian Crooks ) is all this country can handle.
Anwar and PKR is our only hope to break the stranglehold that the BN and its kris-waving tribal leaders have on power. It is time to bury race-based politics and policies once and for all otherwise in another 15 years when the oil runs out, there's going to be a lot of problems. Hidup reformasi!
On Red Devils 2 Inter-faith confab 0
Yee: It is very disappointing to note that this government can bungle up such an international conference with the excuse that the prime minister is not free. The two major world religions represented by their top religious men will have to stop their dialogue, postpone it indefinitely because our dear prime minister cannot not even manage his diary.
It is truly a shame of preposterous magnitude that it had to be cancelled at the last minute. It has been held in several Islamic countries in the Middle East but in Malaysia it has to be postponed.
While some work to build bridges, there are others who break them and then preach about peace and unity. If this is not hypocrisy then what is?
On May 13 - let sleeping dogs lie
PT Tan: For those who lost their loved ones, the above call is tough when you do not know how they died and for what.
We need to have the truth, let those guilty be shamed and then we can move on. The results of May13 has been extremely disastrous for Malaysia where wrong policies were formulated because the truth was hidden.
