Political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda handed to the police an envelope which contained memos written in poor English, a police officer told the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder trial today.

DSP Lim Meng Seah, from the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters, had arrested Abdul Razak at his Malaysian Strategic Research Centre office on Nov 7 in connection with the murder of the Mongolian national.

The analyst was then detained at the Bukit Aman police headquarters lock up.

Two days later, Lim with several other officers, brought Abdul Razak back to his office located in Bangunan Lembaga Getah Asli, Jalan Ampang, under instructions from investigating officer DSP Gan Tack Guan to seize a laptop.

Deputy public prosecutor Manoj Kurup then asked if Lim had seized an envelope at that time, to which the witness replied in the affirmative.

"Abdul Razak took a Hotel Malaya envelope out of a drawer and passed it to me. There were five pieces of paper inside - one was blank.

"I can remember the content which was written in broken English. One of them was 'You love money or you love your life', something like that, I cannot remember.

"One more is 'I came with my father, waiting (for you) outside," Lim said.

The memos are believed to be from Altantuya. Her cousin Burmaa Oyunchimeg had earlier identified several messages written in various pieces of paper by Altantuya before she went missing.

These messages contained requests for him to call her and threats to hurt Abdul Razak's daughter Rowena.

Refreshments served

Lim was also made to identify two mobile phones and two laptops seized by him and his officers from Abdul Razak's office.

He also told the court during cross examination by Abdul Razak's counsel Wong Kian Kheong that Abdul Razak did not resist arrest and was cooperative when the police went to his office and house.

"I agree that we were served refreshments when we arrested him at his office on Nov 7 [...] and when we visited his office to seize his laptop on Nov 9," he said

This issue was probed further by Manoj during re-examination who asked what was the reason for the refreshments to be served.

"(On Nov 7) Abdul Razak said he hasn't had breakfast himself so we gave him a chance to eat [...] (while on Nov 9) he did not have breakfast in the lock up and asked to eat when we were at his office," he added.

Lim also had the courtroom in stitches when judge Mohd Zaki Md Yasin asked him why he switched from using 'Abdul Razak Abdullah' to 'Abdul Razak Baginda' in his answers.

"Because Razak Baginda is his nama glamour (glamourous name)," he answered.

Earlier in the day, two other officers who were identified as lance corporal Rohaniza Raslan's colleagues took the stand before Lim.

Examination of constable Azura Azwa Abdul Kadir, 24, and lance corporal Leena Asing, 32, ended after 20 minutes.

The hearing resumed shortly after 2pm with a new witness.

Two police officers, chief inspector Azilah Hadri, 31, and corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, 36, are charged with the murder which allegedly took place between 10pm on Oct 19 and 1am on Oct 20 last year.

Altantuya's body was said to be blown up in a jungle clearing in Shah Alam, Selangor.

Abdul Razak is charged with abetting the murder by giving the orders out to them at between 9.54am on Oct 18 and 9.45pm on Oct 19 last year in Kuala Lumpur..

All three accused face the death penalty if convicted.
