A Hotel Malaya front desk staff today told the Altantuya murder trial that he could not remember if the Mongolian national made any complaints during her stay there last October.

N Haridharan ( photo ), 22, added that if there were any complaints, he would have recorded them to forward them to the duty manager.

He said this in reply to Abdul Razak Baginda's lawyer, Wong Kian Kheong, on the 19th day of trial.

The prosecution's 18th witness was also questioned on the basic security features in Hotel Malaya, such as a peep hole in the room doors and extra door latches.

Wong: Do you agree that each room has a telephone to contact the front office as well as outside the hotel?

Haridharan: Yes.

Wong: Besides the room key, is the a security latch on the door?

Haridharan: Yes.

Wong: Is there a peephole that enables guests to look out the door without going outside?

Haridharan: Yes.

Previously, witnesses Namiraa Gerelmaa and Uuriintuya Gal Orchir - friends who stayed with Altantuya at Hotel Malaya - told the court that an assistant of Abdul Razak-hired detective had forced himself into their room and slept in it for five hours.

Haridharan took the witness stand today after the prosecution's attempt to play a close-circuit television (CCTV) footage taken at Hotel Malaya failed .

She was in room 821

Another witness, Hotel Malaya operations manager Loo Mow Chan ( photo ), 50, in continuing his testimony, confirmed that Altantuya checked into Hotel Malaya on Oct 9, 2006.

The 19-page guest folio reflected room charges, such as laundry charges, food and miscellaneous charges incurred by the room in which Altantuya and her friends stayed.

According to the folio, Altantuya switched rooms three times on the eight floor, finally staying in room 821 from Oct 14 onwards, until her belongings were checked out on Oct 25 last year.

The prosecution also asked Loo to read out the register of people who stayed in room 823 from Oct 9-25 last year, none of which were Altantuya.

Manoj Kurup, the examining prosecutor, told the court that "the relevance (of this information) will become apparent later".

In a previous testimony by Abdul Razak's private investigator Balasubramaniam told the court that Altantuya stayed in room 823. Balasubramaniam went on to say that it was Razak Baginda who told him that information.

CCTV footage tomorrow

The CCTV footage from Hotel Malaya is expected to be played in court tomorrow using compatible equipment that would show the date and time of the footage when it was taken.

Two police officers, chief inspector Azilah Hadri, 31, and corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, 36, are charged with the murder which allegedly took place between 10pm on Oct 19 and 1am on Oct 20 last year.

Altantuya's body was said to be blown up in a jungle clearing in Shah Alam, Selangor.

Political analyst Abdul Razak, 47, is charged with abetting the murder between 9.54am on Oct 18 and 9.45pm on Oct 19 last year in Kuala Lumpur.

All three face the death penalty if convicted. Hearing before judge Mohd Zaki Mohd Yasin continues tomorrow.
