The judge in the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder trial expunged a testimony given by corporal Sirul Azhar Umar's interrogating officer in the Shah Alam High Court today.

During examination by deputy public prosecutor Tun Majid Tun Hamzah, chief inspector Kamaroszaman Othman, 44, said Sirul had disclosed to him that he would tell the police everything.

"He told me that he will tell the true story and show us where it happened. The incident happened at Puncak Alam, Shah Alam near a PUAS (Selangor Water Management Body) water tank.

"(He said) 'It happens to be the jungle where I have been before to recce for hunting (purposes)," the interrogation officer said ( photo ).

Mongolian national Altantuya is believed to have been shot in a jungle clearing in Puncak Alam, Shah Alam before her body was blown up with explosives last October.

According to Kamaroszaman, Sirul made the disclosure to him on Nov 6 last year at around 4.10pm. The interrogation lasted for 20 minutes.

Sirul's lawyer Kamarul Hisham Kamaruddin then applied for the comment to be expunged as it was 'highly prejudicial'.

"It's not admissible because it's highly prejudicial to my client. It must be expunged by the court. (Kamaroszaman's) statement has no value," he argued.

Tun Majid wanted the statement admissible under Section 8 of the Evidence Act 1950 which states that words that accompany the conduct is relevant evidence.

"The words 'show the location' coupled with the conduct will prove Section 8 [...] there was disclosure and that amounts to conduct to show that Sirul did lead the police to the scene," he said.

Judge Mohd Zaki Md Yasin took 15 minutes to deliberate and decided in Kamarul's favour before adjourning the court for lunch.

'Just followed the convoy'

Earlier on, Kamaroszaman got the packed courtroom laughing as he revealed that he has joined the convoy to Puncak Alam for no apparent reason.

Tun Majid: Who's car did you follow?

Kamaroszaman: I don't' know. I followed a police Pajero.

Tun Majid: You went without being ordered to?

Kamaroszaman: Yes

Tun Majid: Why did you go (to Puncak Alam)?

Kamaroszaman: I wanted to follow them.

Tun Majid: How do you know they were heading there? Did you hear about it or were you told?

Kamaroszaman: I don't remember how I knew about it. There were many cars in front of me outside the Kuala Lumpur Contingent headquarters. When I saw them leave, I just followed them.

Tun Majid: Who were the people in the cars?

Kamaroszaman: I don't know.

Tun Majid: How did you know they were going somewhere?

Kamaroszaman: I don't know. I just followed them.

Tun Majid: These were all squad cars?

Kamaroszaman: Yes.

Tun Majid: Where did you follow the cars to?

Kamaroszaman: I don't know where the place was because I just followed them.

Tun Majid: Where did you arrive at?

Kamaroszaman: I arrived at a junction leading up to a hill but my (Proton) Iswara couldn't go up the hill.

Tun Majid: Did you pass any familiar places before you reached the place?

Kamaroszaman: I don't know the name of the place but I think its called 'ITM'.

Judge: Where did you go? Kedah or Penang? (jokingly)

Kamaroszaman: I think it was Selangor.

Tun Majid: So you didn't go up the hill?

Kamaroszaman: No.

Tun Majid: Did you return to your office after that?

Kamaroszaman: No, I went back home.

Tun Majid: Have you heard where 'ITM' is located?

Kamaroszaman: I think it is Shah Alam.

Chief inspector Azilah Hadri, 31, and Sirul, 36, are charged with killing Altantuya between 10pm on Oct 19 and 1am on Oct 20 last year.

Political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda, 46, is charged with abetting them. All three face the death penalty if convicted.
