Sedition: Charge both Wee and Umno

Many members from Umno and even ministers have uttered worse seditious remarks and yet no action was taken against them.

On Cabinet rejects apology from rapper

Peter: The comments by Nazri and Rais Yatim on pressing charges against Wee made my toes laugh. They appeared to be fair- minded and righteous. Look at what Nazri said: 'In this country we have laws and we cannot create a precedent where you commit an offence, apologise and get away with it.' Very true indeed.

But Nazri forgot that many members from Umno and even ministers have uttered worse seditious remarks and yet no action was taken against them.

I do not condone insulting our national anthem and flag. But if at all action is to be taken against Wee, similar action should be taken against the numerous cases reported against Umno ministers and many others.

Nazri, the beam in your eye you can't see but the splinter in others you could. All we care for is fair play.

Soon: Did the video clip spread hatred in any form? It is merely protesting unfair treatment. Did the video clip incite riots and protests in the street? How could it be seditious when brandishing a 'keris' and vowing to bath it with the blood of the Chinese minority is not?

This is one of the brilliant piece of artwork done by our youngster, telling his frustration and illusion of being a Malaysian.

PS: I personally think it is not the 'Negarakuku' part that's hurting the government. It's more like because this guy is singing facts and to top it all, it's on YouTube.com.

Don't get me wrong. I am not saying we should not respect our country, flag, anthem etc. We should..

But what we need to do here is to stop wasting time on all these small issues and capture the larger issues. Analyse Wee's song and see what's said in there. Investigate rather than saying 'YouTube is bad', 'This guy is bad' blah, blah, blah ....

Sang Kancil: I do not disagree with the view taken by the cabinet that the matter should be left to the Attorney-General Chambers to decide. What Meng Chee did, in my view, was wrong. If he breaks the law, he must face the music.

However, if you were to charge him for sedition, there are a lot of politicians who also should be charged for sedition for what they said during their political parties' general assembly. They are supposed to be leaders who should show a good example.

But to get support from the people with the same mentality as theirs, they resort to playing communal politics. Very sad indeed after 50 years of independence.

On Bus crash kills 20 two in critical condition

Alex Tan: I hope that the agencies involved can learn from this tragedy. I am a express bus user too from Kedah to Singapore. I find that most of drivers speed well above 110km/hr, which is far beyond the speed limit recommended. I thought we had a law for the so-call speed limiters to be installed on every bus. What happened to this?

Obviously, something is not right. We have the laws but have they been enforced? Who is supposed to carry out the checks? How often? Are the officials really working or merely pushing paper?

After 50 years of independence, we still see this type of incompetence. It is really pathetic. This coming election, let's see if we can get us a better government.

On Malaysiakini 'a pain in the neck'

Munti-dann: Why is it that the grand old man of Malaysia must keep making rhetorical statements to arrest the attention of the public? How is that malaysiakini , once a pain in his neck, has suddenly become his new mouthpiece?

Now he praises bloggers for revealing weaknesses in the rotten government - a government which practically inherited his legacy. Is he not slapping his own face indirectly?

Can Malaysians trust any former leader who makes a 180-degree turn and is now game to wash dirty linen in public? Better not, lest one is led up a blind alley of yet another dirty political manouevre.
